The Hobbit World Premiere finally came town and all the insanity that goes along with it. Road closures, people sleeping in front of the theatre, elves and hobbit look-alikes running amok. We showed up two hours before the whole thing was set to kick off, and got decent positions near the start of the Red Carpet. It was something to be seen. As only casual observers, we weren’t angling for a spot on the barrier, but rather just wanted to take some photos of celebs we may (or may not) know. And boy, did we take photos. Enjoy!
Pre-Red Carpet Entertainment
Sir Richard Taylor (Weta Workshops)
James Cameron (Director of Titanic, Avatar, etc etc)
A strange mix of Santa Claus, the Travelocity Gnome and generic wizard of sorts?
Elves and leprechauns living side by side. The beer helps too.
This guy plays the main dwarf. My guess is he’s supposed to take the place of Aragon in this franchise. If IMDB served me right, his name is Richard Armitage.
Elijiah Wood…is short. Very very short.
Best seat in the house.
Prime Minister of New Zealand, John Key
This is how you know there were plenty of people who liked to dress up. This was the coolest one of them all.
So. Many. Gandalf. Hats.
Yay! We made it!
Dude in the green tie and sunnies is Martin Freeman – he’s playing Bilbo.
A frazzled Sir Peter Jackson
